Teachers face the changing society through their pupils. New strategies to address challenges of the modern school are needed. The phenomenon will be analyzed by connecting leadership with teacherhood. Actually, “teachers as leaders” is not a new concept: teachers as leaders have certain responsibilities, for example, for student learning. To enhance learning, teachers need means of fostering diverse students’ overall growth, self-knowledge, and well-being. Positive support can be seen the most important when aiming at a positive influence. In this article, love-based practices in education will be discussed from the perspective of leadership. The focus is on defining the concept of love-based leadership and determining how it might be used in designing caring learning environments. Love was chosen as the ultimate theoretical phenomenon on which leadership in teaching is based on. The purpose is to introduce the theoretical formation of this approach: what is love-based leadership and how love-based practices in education can foster learning.
